Betting on the Action | Nitro RX Calgary 2023

Defrosted from Trois-Rivières yet? Good, because it’s time to do it all again in Calgary!

Nitro Rallycross returns to the snow and ice one last time for its penultimate race weekend of the season with it all still to play for. Robin Larsson still leads the points standings after another podium last time out, but it’s the Olsbergs MSE pairing of Oliver and Kevin Eriksson who are the ones in-form after dominating last time out.

That’s what happened on track at our most recent round, but how are things looking with our Calgary betting lines? Dominik Wilde is here again to be your guide – and if you’re new to betting, there might even be a little surprise for you further down too…

The favorite

We’ve already mentioned Larsson and the younger Eriksson brother. Top of the table and our latest winner respectively, there’s a good reason why they’re your safest bets this weekend at +350.

Larsson’s been massively consistent all season, only finishing off the podium once. He’s also one of two drivers to win more than once this year, but given Oliver Eriksson’s heroics in the snow in Quebec, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him join that small collective. Looking at the head-to-head match-ups, Larsson just edges it (-105 to -125).

The outsider

Kris Meeke might have had a bit of a dismal weekend last time out, with technical issues blighting his qualifying day, then an unfortunate error in the Last Chance Qualifier costing him a shot at the final, but when things were going his way, he was still fast. And that’s Meeke in a nutshell – fast.

The Northern Irishman is no stranger to slippy surfaces from his time in rallying, and with a point to prove after GP3R, you can be sure he’ll be on top of his game this weekend.

The expert’s pick

Last time I singled out the Eriksson brothers and they delivered – finishing first and second – and after giving Robin Larsson the nod for Phoenix and having Fraser McConnell as one of my picks for Glen Helen, I’m on a bit of a roll. The pressure’s on here.

Sticking to my guns from last time, sort of, I’m once again going to go for Oliver Eriksson. He’s been fast but unfortunate all season, and when everything finally came together, he was unstoppable. Brother Kevin was equally as deserving of the win, and would be a fitting victor this weekend too based on what we know going into the event. With him out of the championship picture, he played it smart being Oliver’s rear gunner last time out.

If Olsbergs MSE can once again carry that form across to the other side of Canada, expect more of the same.
